After a busy week in Parliament, it was great to be out visiting local businesses across Bromsgrove District on Friday. Chatting to local business owners, employees and their customers is always incredibly useful, and it allows me to learn what more I might be able to do to help in these challenging times. It was fantastic to see so many people supporting small and independent stores and sticking to the social distancing guidelines.
Of course, many readers will be keenly anticipating the opening of some hospitality venues, including pubs, on Saturday, July 4. I would urge all patrons to be mindful of social distancing. We have made great sacrifices to make progress, including those made by our frontline responders. Let’s be responsible with the freedoms we can now enjoy.
Finally, as part of my campaign to recognise people who have gone above and beyond for our community during the Covid-19 crisis, I would like to pay tribute to a Local Hero. Mazen Salmou has volunteered for the Bromsgrove Community Support Group throughout this period. As well as supporting local residents by delivering shopping and other supplies, he has been a source of constant positivity and inspiration for other volunteers. Thank you Maz!
