A STAGGERING £19million worth of grants have been awarded to businesses in Bromsgrove during the pandemic, according to new figures.
Meanwhile more than £10million in grants has been issued to self-employed people in the town under the Self-Employed Income Support Scheme (SEISS).
Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid welcomed the government support and called on residents to keep supporting local businesses to ensure the town has the ‘strongest possible recovery’.
He said: “This has been a challenging period, but these latest figures demonstrate the scale of support that the government has put in place to support businesses and workers in Bromsgrove.
“With many local businesses now safely reopened, it’s vital that residents keep supporting them.”
The statistics, published by the Government, also show that 13,900 people in Bromsgrove have had their jobs protected through the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme.
