April is a month of religious celebration, from Easter to Eid, and from Passover to the start of Vaisakha – I would like to wish all the readers of the Bromsgrove Standard a happy and joyous time, whatever the celebration may be.
The last month has been a busy one in Westminster with the Chancellor’s Budget providing support for households and individuals across the UK to encourage people back to work.
I welcomed a range of policies that were outlined, especially the extension of childcare support, retraining schemes for over-50s, and the introduction of Universal Support.
Personally, I was delighted to hear that £10million will be spent on supporting suicide prevention charities – a cause that I care deeply about.
In Bromsgrove, I was delighted to visit Tardebigge Church of England First School. I would like to thank Mr Hartshorn, his staff, and his pupils for such a warm welcome and enjoyable visit.
I also met with Midlands Connect to discuss their Midlands Rail Hub scheme.
As Chancellor, in 2019, I made a commitment to support this infrastructure scheme.
I look forward to seeing the benefits that it will bring to Bromsgrove District.
I met the Midlands Connect team at Barnt Green Station. It follows up on the confirmation I secured from Network Rail to install a new lift – something I have campaigned on for many years.
